Holiday
Dangers for your Pets
Each season comes with
its own dangers for your pet.
While you and your family maybe having a spooktacular time sorting
through a
bag of treats, make sure your pets don't share in the fun.
Chocolate can be toxic to
dogs and cats!
Be sure to let us know if they get into any of your Halloween treats.
Believe it or not, Thanksgiving is right around the corner.
Did you know that dogs are
not supposed to have onions?
NO STUFFING FOR FIDO! One
thing we can be thankful for...a lid for the garbage can!
Keep it latched on tight, because your pets don't need to share in your
bounty.
That means NO turkey legs, stuffing or pumpkin pie! If they stick to their
regular meals
they (and you) will be thankful when they get to skip a visit to our office the
very next day.
And Christmas... The stockings hung by the chimney with care...
All the tinsel hung perfectly on the tree... Your kitty hanging gracefully
right where the star used to be! Anyone who has ever had a cat knows that
just having a tree is gift enough for them. They can spend hours batting
at
your favorite breakable ornaments... eating the tinsel... and getting back to
nature by climbing
right up the center of your perfectly set tree! If it is at all possible, skip
the tinsel.
Toy mice are much more safe... and fun. A cat that eats the tinsel will get more
than
they bargained for. That could end up meaning the gift of surgery in the
following
days if that tinsel does not pass through! Broken
glass from ornaments can also
be
a hazard to any pet. If you don't celebrate Christmas... don't think that
those
Chanukah lights won't attract your kitty! Candles
can be bad any time of the year
for
a cat that likes to play with fire! And watch out for those chocolate
coins.
Chocolate + Foil =
Surgery!
So, enjoy the holidays with them, because your pets really are part of your family.
Just remember that they need a little special care during this busiest time
of the year!
